How I Name Images, Write Titles, and Help My Posts Get Found
by Melissa Lambert | Lambert Cottage
There’s something lovely about writing online—sharing beauty, stories, recipes, stitching, homemaking, and quiet inspiration with others. But if no one can find what you’ve written, even the most beautiful post can sit unseen.
The good news is that SEO doesn’t have to feel cold or technical. I keep mine simple.
Here’s what I do at Lambert Cottage.
1) Name your images before uploading
Never upload:
IMG_4821.jpg
Instead, rename your image with clear words:
lambert-cottage-cozy-kitchen-pantry.jpg
hand-embroidered-mushroom-sampler.jpg
white-linen-bedroom-scandinavian-cottage.jpg
Use:
✓ lowercase letters
✓ hyphens between words
✓ natural wording
✓ descriptive phrases
Avoid stuffing words over and over.
Natural is best.
2) Write alt text like you’re describing the photo
Alt text helps search engines understand what’s in your image—and it also helps readers using screen readers.
Example:
“Vintage wooden shelf styled with white crockery, folded linen towels, and warm cottage kitchen details.”
Simple. Clear. Honest.
3) Use beautiful titles people actually search
A good title can be warm and searchable.
Instead of:

Think:
what would someone type into Google?
4) Keep your URL clean
Example:
Good:
/cozy-cottage-kitchen-pantry
Not:
/post-about-my-kitchen-pantry-and-thoughts-on-cozy-living-at-home
Short and clear wins.
5) Write a short description
Your blog description should sound inviting:
Learn how to create a cozy cottage kitchen pantry using glass jars, linen textures, warm woods, and simple slow-living touches.
One sentence is enough.
6) Pinterest matters
Pinterest is a search engine.
Pin title:
Cozy Cottage Kitchen Pantry Ideas
Pin description:
Simple pantry inspiration with white oak shelves, linen towels, glass jars, and warm cottage kitchen charm.
Use keywords naturally.
7) Beauty matters
Google may find your post—but beauty makes readers stay.
Warm photography.
Soft styling.
Clear writing.
Useful ideas.
A gentle voice.
That’s part of SEO too.
Closing
At Lambert Cottage, I believe beautiful things deserve to be found.
Quiet things. Handmade things. Cozy things. Slow things.
And sometimes, helping them get found is as simple as naming a photograph well and choosing words with care.
